Hygiene Therapy

What patients should be referred for hygiene therapy?

  • Patients with BPES 0-2
  • Patients with advanced restorative work, which needs to be maintained
  • Patients with poor oral hygiene, high bleeding & plaque scores
  • Patients who have previously been successfully treated for periodontal treatment and now need maintenance therapy

Please note patients with code 3 & 4 BPE scores should be referred for periodontal treatment.

Our Hygienist is available to see patients for preventative measures such as oral hygiene advice, smoking cessation, fluoride applications, diet advice and scaling and polishing. Improving a patient’s oral hygiene means they are less prone to dental issues or reduced risk of disease and can also help prepare them for more advanced dentistry procedures from our specialists.
