Sabrina’s Everest Challenge

In October 2018 Sabrina took on the challenge of walking to Base Camp Everest to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association after losing a friend to the disease in 2017. Her training started in January 2017 and she spent many mornings before work in the gym and dedicated her weekends to walking in Wales.

Walking in the Everest region is not easy – the trails are often steeply ascending or descending, you share the path with yaks and mules and the altitude makes the effort harder and for Sabrina brought on sickness, but the rewards included wonderful mountain scenery, Buddhist monasteries and temples, and the hospitality of the local people, who live a hard life, but are always ready with a smile.

The walk in total took 11 days there and back and Sabrina was joined by a team of 22 fellow walkers all doing it for their own personal reasons. During the fundraising Sabrina held a dress sale here at the practice which raised £830 and has raised £5217 through her just giving page bringing her total to £6047 smashing her original target of £4000. We would like to thank all of you who donated to her cause at the practice and those who donated through the Facebook link she was absolutely thrilled to reach such an amount. Her feet are firmly back on sea level ground now and she has promised she will stay away from big mountains for a while!

Well done Sabrina!!

“After feeling very anxious prior to my appointment, I left CESRC feeling much happier and in very safe and competent hands. Every member of the team that I came into contact with were kind, reassuring and helpful. The experience of the team was obvious from the word go and I would highly recommend this practice! Thank you!”

“Another great CPD evening on occlusion last week. Keep up with the study club programme as it is a great opportunity for us GDPs to stay up to date and meet other colleagues in the profession.”
