Treadmill Challenge Update

Central England Specialist Referral embraces Corporate Social Responsibility and we focus on particular areas such as raising money for charity, providing education to our peers and continuing to support those businesses around us.

This year we have chosen Solihull Academy who are just a stone’s throw away from the centre. On Wednesday 12th June the team took part in a 12-hour treadmill challenge here at the centre. The treadmill was started at 7am with one of our dentists, Joanne Thompson, donning her trainers and getting the challenge underway. During the day the team, patients, local businesses and students and staff from the academy kept the treadmill going until a fantastic sprint finish by Neil himself taking us up to 7pm.

Patients, friends, family and referring dentists sponsored the team and had the opportunity to guess the distance to be covered over the 12 hours. The team were thrilled to know we are viewed as a very athletic bunch with distance estimations of up to 200 miles! The actual mileage covered was 47.8 miles and the lucky winners of our first, second and third prizes were Kirsty Clark, Craig James Hewitt, and Andrew Bailey. A very special well done to Gemma Bowen for winning the team fundraiser prize raising over £250.00 in sponsorship!

We are very proud to announce that with sponsorship, donations and cake sales the team have raised £3186.84 which has gone to Solihull Academy and will help change the educational futures and life of every young student who attends their academy. The treadmill used in the challenge has also been donated to the academy for the students to use in their sports centre.

Solihull has, in the past, had one of the highest exclusion rates from schools in the country. If a young person is permanently excluded from school, they are at risk of getting caught up in crime, drugs and more alarming is that they have a 1 in 4 chance of dying before the age of 25. We would like to say thank you for sponsorship to Tame Cleaning, Henry Schein, Jubilee Dental Laboratories along with our patients and friends. A special thank you goes to our patients Chris Deacon, Jane Rose and Jonathan Hughes who jumped on the treadmill and kept it going for us. With your support we are making a difference for students who have an urgent need for something different.

“After feeling very anxious prior to my appointment, I left CESRC feeling much happier and in very safe and competent hands. Every member of the team that I came into contact with were kind, reassuring and helpful. The experience of the team was obvious from the word go and I would highly recommend this practice! Thank you!”
