Update on COVID-19

UPDATE MAY 29 2020: The practice is still closed due to COVID19. However, the news last night on television that we can reopen on 8th June came as much as a surprise to us as it may have to you.

We will still be cancelling all appointments up until and including the 30th June. This will allow us to prioritise and book in those patients who have been in pain and need urgent attention whilst we have been closed.

You will not receive further contact to notify you that your appointment has been cancelled so please take this email as your cancellation notice.

We will start contacting emergency patients next week to reorganise appointments.

We will contact all other patients who have had appointments cancelled in the coming weeks.

There are some restrictions in place and things will be a little different initially as we implement social distancing and some new precautions.

We will be screening patients and performing temperature checks on arrival
You will need to wait in your car unless you have come on public transport
We will be maintaining social distancing within the practice
We will look a little different in masks, visors, and gowns when appropriate
You will be asked to sanitise your hands-on arrival
Payments will be taken in advance where possible to limit time in reception
We will go through the new protocols with you over the phone when we arrange your appointments.

We understand that it is difficult and frustrating not being able to receive your treatment, but we can assure you we will be in touch as soon as we can. We hope you and your families are all safe and well and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

UPDATE March 25 2020: Following the updated advice from the Government and announcements made by our regulatory bodies we wanted to let you know that the practice will be closing temporarily.

We have been advised that all routine treatment should stop, and we should only see dental emergencies. In addition to this when we do see emergencies all aerosol generating procedures (spray) require a FFP3 masks. These procedures will include any drills, scalers and anything that would create a spray or mist this stops us doing any clinical dentistry until we can get the required safety equipment.

The FFP3 masks are not routinely used for dentistry and even doctors and nurses at the frontline are struggling to get hold of them. We have made efforts to contact suppliers and get these masks but as I am sure you understand they are needed elsewhere at the moment.

Therefore, all appointments in the foreseeable future will be cancelled currently up until 31st May. We will review the situation again at this point. We are trying to contact you individually to speak to you about your appointment.

Please call the practice if you have pain and we will do our best to look after you. The practice will be operating reduced hours but there will be an answer machine message with instructions to follow. Dr Wilson will conduct telephone consultations if required.

Any patients who have pain and have COVID19 symptoms will need to call 111.
