Corporate Social Responsibility has been defined as “the continuing commitment by businesses to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as the local community at large”
Central England Specialist Referral Centre believes that we should look beyond just making profits and embrace Corporate Social Responsibility. We focus on particular areas such as saving resources, raising money for charity, voluntary work in our local community and continuing to support those businesses around us.
We recycle all paper waste and are moving as much as possible to a paperless practice where possible. The practice chooses a charity each year in which to support through fundraising events.
We also shows our commitment by allowing every member of staff one fully paid day off a year to embark on charity work of their own choice in the local community.
Dr Neil Wilson is an active provider of education, training and mentoring to other dentists in the Midlands and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Birmingham Dental Hospital.
Our selected charity is Breaking The Silence, which supports women survivors of domestic abuse, forced marriages and human trafficking. Alongside our fundraising efforts Dr Neil Wilson donates his lectures fees to this cause and we are on course to hit out £5,000 target this year.
Dr Wilson believes everyone should feel good about what they do and the difference we can make to people’s lives both dental and beyond the realms of dentistry. The practice philosophy to CSR starts with how we treat our patients. Our philosophy is that we should treat our patients honestly and care for them in the way we would our own family. We should treat each other in a similar way. We should be caring and sympathetic to everyone. This approach ties in with our core principles to be caring, professional, dedicated, friendly and trustworthy.
Dr Neil Wilson says “it’s about delivering the best treatment that is possible with the patient’s best interest at heart. We should also be proud to support the local community and CSR also means it is important to support other local businesses by trying where possible to use those local to us.” Dr Wilson has always believed if we work this way then it’s a win-win situation for all staff members, patients and those companies that work with us. We are always looking for ways to reward the team for hard work and dedication through bonus incentives, private healthcare and team recognition. If the practice does well then the team will reap the rewards. As a commitment to CSR we also aim to protect our environment as much as possible by recycling and limiting our uses of the world’s resources.
Caring, Professional, Dedicated, Friendly, Trustworthy.
